As someone deeply committed to youth empowerment, I recently had the opportunity to speak with a group of incredible young girls from Brockton who love to play basketball. Their passion, discipline, and drive reminded me why investing in programs like The Hoop Collaborative (Herc42Skills) is so essential to our community’s future.
From day one, The Hoop Collaborative has worked to create a safe, positive space where young athletes—especially girls—can thrive. Research shows that participation in sports strengthens mental health, builds self-esteem, and encourages teamwork and resilience. This program gives our youth the tools to succeed on and off the court.
Under the leadership of Program Leader Mitchell Hercule, and with the support of dedicated coaches and volunteers, these girls are learning not just basketball—but confidence, commitment, and leadership.
